Memorials brought to life.
The Langlade County Cemetery Tour, officially titled “Presenting the Past”, is a collaborative event put on annually by the Langlade County Historical Society and Antigo Community Theatre. Presenting the Past takes you on a stroll through one of Langlade County’s cemeteries, where you’ll admire and learn about the symbolism and emotion that goes into creating these monuments to the deceased. Along the way, you’ll encounter several figures from throughout Antigo’s history, who will entertain you with their life stories, which frequently intertwine with story of Langlade County as a whole.
The 2023 Cemetery Tour takes place in Elmwood Cemetery on the south side of Antigo. All visitors should park in the Northcentral Technical College parking lot across the road from the cemetery, which tickets will be sold and tour groups will depart from. The entire tour route, including to-and-from the parking lot, is approximately half a mile in length and will go through gravel paths and mildly rough ground. Some accommodation are available for those with difficulty walking, but please plan accordingly.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Langlade County Historical Society Museum at 404 Superior Street.
