About Us
The Langlade County Historical Society (LCHS) is a self-supporting 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission it is to preserve, advance, and disseminate knowledge of the history of Langlade County. This is done by maintenance of a museum, as well as archives and historic sites on the museum campus.
The museum welcomed over 2,000 visitors in 2022 during daily operations, and even more through special events such as school tours. The building also hosts a Welcome Center maintained by the Langlade County Economic Development Corporation and an art gallery utilized by Antigo Visual Arts. Its archives are open to the public for research, and the Deleglise Cabin and 440 Locomotive & Caboose can both be toured with a volunteer’s supervision. For more information on all of these attractions, please continue browsing the website.

The Langlade County Historical Society is overseen by a board of directors consisting of 9 members, each elected for a three year term. Terms are staggered so that in a given year three members have terms that expire. Election of officers occurs at the annual meeting, always held in November.
The board appoints a curator, the Historical Society’s only paid employee, to manage the museum and organize its collection. The current curator, since 2006, is Mary Kay Wolf.
All other workers at the museum are volunteers. These volunteers generally greet visitors at the front desk, provide them with information, and give them tours of the cabin and train. If you’re interested in volunteering call the museum at 715-627-4464 for information.
