A Cultural Partnership
An art gallery maintained by Antigo Visual Arts (AVA), a local organization for artists, is located in a room on the second floor of the Carnegie Library. It showcases a variety of works across several mediums, many of which are for sale. Art pieces are rotated seasonally. Some AVA-related products, such as postcards and mugs, are for sale in the museum gift shop.
In the summer of 2011, the Langlade County Historical Society entered into an agreement with Antigo Visual Arts. The LCHS acts as a 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor and provides the AVA with a space in the museum. AVA’s mission is to showcase the visual arts of local artists and host student exhibits. AVA does its own fundraising, has its own budget, and has its own board of directors.
Antigo Visual Arts seeks to foster, cultivate, and coordinate the arts at the local level in order to promote cultural, social, and economic development within our community. An active arts association resources is essential to the intellectual and social development of our citizens and contributes to the overall quality of life and health of our community.
